07-07-2010: Plumbing, part 1; Rain delay, part 3 or 4
The plumbing trenches were dug this morning. Rick said it was just barely dry enough to dig and that the backhoe was slipping and sliding around. It, of course, began pouring rain not long after they arrived back with all of the supplies and got started with the pipes. We received about 0.6" of rain which flooded the work site again and added 1-2 inches of water to the almost dry but still very muddy basement.
The forecast calls for "heavy rains" once again for the next 3 to 4 days. What the heck?!?! Tropical Storm Bonnie is headed along the same path as Alex and will interact with a cold front here over the weekend. Too bad it can't go a little farther north and do the "heavy rain" thing over Lake Meredith! We've received almost our entire average annual rainfall since we started the basement 3 weeks ago! The rest of this week doesn't look very promising right now. We hope it at least dries out by the first of next week because our plumber leaves on the 17th for a one-week vacation!
On the brighter side, we haven't had to water anything for a while, and it's really lush and green. It's starting to look and feel more like Ireland or a rain forest than West Texas.
