 We put up tar paper, trim for the siding, and siding this weekend. We're using some other left over siding Rick had for another project and haven't gotten to the old roof material yet. It's really starting to look good. This siding has an interesting patina, but it'll all be pressure washed, primed, and painted to match the house eventually. 

Next time we'll finish the area at the back of the carport that's been left open (OSB, soffit and fascia, tar paper, trim, and siding).

A storm popped up west of town but missed us. We did get a few clouds for a short time, though.

7/4/26

 The city received a grant for a new paved road, and the road in front of the house was closed, removed, and prepped for paving. It'll take a few weeks.

We worked on soffits and fascia this weekend on the shed. It was blazing hot (almost 107 degrees), and we didn't have shade on the south part of the building or the west part in the afternoon. It's really looking better now.

We tore out the back of the carport, re-did the footer, removed the old exterior shed roofline off the back, and put up more OSB. We left one place open at the end to make it easier to go back and forth. It's looking better.

6/13/26

We finally got started on the carport shed project. I'm not sure why we waited until it got hot again, but here we are. We trimmed off boards that were sticking out and put up OSB on the west and south sides. The area at the back of the carport (part at the end without OSB) is really messed up and is going to have to be torn out and rebuilt. It got up to 104 degrees, and there wasn't shade on the south part but we got a lot done and think it looks much better already.

5/2/26

The next project was to replace the cellar door and clean out the cellar. I had never been down there before and Rick had been a couple of times. There was no water and no rattlesnakes this time. The old door was in complete disrepair. The new door just needs some trim around the outside sometime, but it seals well and looks much better. We cleaned and swept out the cellar. There are 7 or 8 chairs, some table, and lots of candles. It's actually a fallout shelter from the 1950s.
