03-28-2011: Tile, day 3; Fireplace finished; Cabinet hardware

Rick continues working on tiling the guest showers.  It's a very tedious and slow process.  Almost every tile has at least one cut.  It's looking good!

The fireplace guys finally showed up about 5:30pm today and got the fireplace unpacked and set up.  It obviously needs some cleaning on the glass but is fully functional.  It even has a remote control.

Although it is very much outside of my comfort zone, I decided over the weekend that the cabinet hardware was going to have to be installed by me.  Rick has way too much to do right now.  I got a crash course in marking cabinet door knobs with a jig, finding the centers of drawers, using a different jig to mark (and level) the drawer holes with 4-inch centers, drilling the holes properly, and installing the hardware.  I have the kitchen finished and all cabinet door knobs installed (53) throughout the house, plus drawers in the utility room.  I'm still working on drawers in the bar, guest bathrooms, master closet, and master bathroom.  I think it looks just fine.
