9/8/24

We got a lot done this weekend. Rick ran electrical for both bathrooms, installed two bathroom fans, worked on bathroom plumbing, and set both shower basins in mortar before I arrived Friday afternoon. We installed both showers and started putting up sheet rock. We completed sheet rock in the the main bathroom and 2nd bathroom closets and in part of the 2nd bathroom. I also finished tearing out and cleaning up the desk/closet area in the 3rd bedroom on Saturday while Rick was working on the showers.

9/2/24

The weekend was cloudy and much cooler. We worked on plumbing, the bathroom floor, installing 2 showers, sheet-rocking the ceilings of the bathroom, installing a pocket door in one bathroom, lighting placement & electrical.

8/25/24

The weekend of 8/24/24, we worked more on plumbing and water lines, removed & closed off the bathroom window, insulated the bathroom wall, and started framing the bathrooms. The temps were > 107 degrees all weekend and were officially 112 degrees and unofficially 115 degrees on Friday. It was brutal! The fan just made it feel like spending 12 hours a day in an air fryer.

8/11/24 & 8/18/24

The weekend of 8/10/24 was very hot, and we still didn't have electricity yet. We began working on removing old and placing new plumbing and water lines under the house and hauled 3 trailer loads of trash to the city dump. We also started working on laying out the bathrooms.

One the weekend of 8/17/24, we finally had electricity. Even though nothing in the house was wired yet, we could run an extension cord and have a fan!  It was very hot. We worked mostly on plumbing and water lines.

7/29/24 & 8/4/24

On the weekend of 7/28/24, Rick worked on getting an exterior electrical box installed and I worked on getting ant beds and weeds out of the yard.

The weekend of 8/3/24, we started demolition of the bathroom, hall closets, and bedroom wall/closet. The cast iron tub took Rick 2 full hours to break up with a sledge hammer. It was very hot and uncomfortable. The electricity still wasn't on yet.

Here we're starting to plan for converting one poorly-designed bathroom and two useless hall closets into 2 full bathrooms.

5/18/24 Yard Cleanup

We returned the next Saturday (5/18/24) to mow the yard. We ended up doing a lot more than expected, but everything was overgrown and in bad shape. It looked much better after!
