02-25-2011: Painting, day 5
Rick is spraying primer on the hall bathroom (above), master closet, master bathroom, and master bedroom today and tonight. He ran out of paint earlier, so we met Mother, Abby & Kate for an early dinner and came back to finish painting. We have someone coming out tomorrow to sand what was sprayed today in preparation for the final two coats of paint. Hopefully, we can continue taping and spraying primer on the trim throughout the rest of the house this weekend.

We are using oil-based semi-gloss paint for the trim and ended up choosing the color between Southern Breeze and Colonial White. The wall paint is latex eggshell and is the color between Dusty Trail and Toasted Almond.
We had hoped to get both coats of paint on today and to be able to paint the basement walls tomorrow and have that part of the house finished and closed off, but it looks like we'll have to come up with a different strategy.

02-21-2011: Painting, day 1
Rick put primer on the trim in the basement and stairs today. After work, I ran back into town and bought wall and trim paint. We stayed out until after 10pm tonight painting drawers and shelves from the closets and bathrooms. I was taping drawer glides, and Rick was cranking out the paint. We finished either 33 or 34 drawers. He'll put two coats of the paint on the basement trim tomorrow, and we'll get the basement walls painted in the next day or two.

02-20-2011: Prepping for painting
We worked on taping, sweeping, dusting, and cleaning today in preparation for painting the trim and cabinets. We have some more prep work to do, but Rick should be able to get started with the basement tomorrow. We have decided on a wall color and are confident we won't have to change it again. The trim color will either be the lighter color we've been looking at or a mixture of the two colors. We've changed to Sherwin Williams from Pittsburgh Paints.

02-16-2011: Stain, day 4
They haven't finished the drawers or doors yet and will probably put on a second coat, but we think the cabinets look great. We spent a considerable amount of time this afternoon and evening working on the paint colors. We have it narrowed down but haven't made a final decision yet. It looks like we need one more trim color quart sample and a gallon of finish paint before we can decide. We also looked at more flooring. We're kind of leaning toward the tile shown here.
