2/23/25

We arrived on Friday after a very cold week. The temps inside the house were about 34 degrees when Rick tested them. We worked on mudding all weekend so had to get the house warmed up for the mud to dry between multiple coats. It doesn't look drastically different from last week, but it's much closer to being ready for the sheetrock paint. We have a couple of cracks to repair in the living room ceiling, ceilings to sand in the living room and laundry room, and touch up work on sheetrock throughout the house.

It's time for another cruise break, so we'll be back at it again in a few weeks.

We both arrived Friday. Rick finished the sheetrock in the kitchen nook area and hallway around the front door. He also re-wired the front porch light and light switch near the front door. On Saturday, we taped and bedded the kitchen, west wall of living room, kitchen nook, and east wall of laundry room. Sunday, we put up corner trim on walls, doorways, and windows and began mudding.

We were close to finishing the corner trim but ran out of spray glue, so that'll be a quick finish next week. We ran out of mud around the time to head back to Lubbock, so we prepared as much as possible for the predicted 6 degree lows to avoid problems with water freezing. Next week, we'll be working on mudding and getting all of the walls throughout the house ready to hopefully apply sheetrock paint soon.

2/9/25

We arrived on Friday. Rick replaced the front door Friday afternoon. We needed this done to be able to complete the sheetrock in the hallway.

Saturday, we sheetrocked the laundry room and worked on the kitchen nook area. We had originally planned to leave the original benches and shelves, but they were pretty rough, it was going to be complicated, and they took up a lot of space. We ended up removing all of it and will probably add a bench seat under the window and the extra space will allow for the use of a larger table and for easier access.

Sunday, I insulated the walls of the kitchen nook, and Rick worked on repairing and prepping the area for sheetrock. Since we ended up sheetrocking a larger area than we had planned, we didn't have enough sheetrock to finish. Next time we'll finish sheetrocking and start taping and bedding in the kitchen, west living room, and east laundry room areas.
